Leopard print

Ok it's been ages but I was home sick from work today and decided to have a go at free hand leopard print and I think it turned out ok.

Base is China Glaze For Audrey, spots are Art Club Satin Silver and Black. Next time I'll have a go at doing all my nails.

Nubar 2010

I finally got my hands on a bottle of this little beauty from eBay.

It arrived last night and I am in love already!

Nubar 2010 over OPI Dim Sum Plum.

Ulta3 Waterlily with OPI Mad as a Hatter tips.

I had my nails painted in waterlily the other day and when they had a little tip wear I decided to fix it up with a little mad as a hatter.

I think they look pretty fun. The contrast was a bit more noticeable in real life.

My Stash

I took a couple of photos of my nail polish stash today. I store them all in a Billy bookcase from Ikea.

The whole bookcase.

The top shelf- OPI and China Glaze.

1st shelf- Zoya.

2nd Shelf- Ulta3, Nubar, Rimmel, Essie, Revlon etc...

3rd Shelf- Nail art, foils, Remover, Top Coats, Base Coats and Treatments.

Bottom shelf- Colour Pops, Nail Wheels, Mani and Pedi implements- Files, Cuticle sticks, Nail Cutters, Toe Seperators etc...

It doesn't look like it but there is over 130 polishes there, plus my sister has borrowed a couple and a few are at my mums...

Short Nails

So I decided to cut them all back and start again... I might post some NOTD pics from the last few weeks but my nails were all different lengths and not looking great!

This colour is Ulta3 bouquet with a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust. I love glitters and Fairy Dust adds a little fun to plain colours when I can't be bothered attempting nail art.

Broken

So i have had another casualty, my 3rd broken nail in 2 weeks (hence the absence from my blog).

I'm not sure what to do... Do I cut them all back? Or would a nail tech do just a couple of tips for me and I can take them off when they grow out? Or will this look funny? Or do I just leave them ad they are and hope my broken ones grow fast?

See below for the current state of my nails...

Essie Resort- Lapis of Luxury

I ordered the Essie Resort Mini's and they arrived at the start of this week, and I have to say I think I have found my favourite blue!

Lapis of Luxury is a beautiful creme sky blue. I have had it on since I received them which is not like me at all, I normally change my polish every day.

It wears very well and I've had no chips or tip wear. I'm wearing 3 coats of Lapis of Luxury over Seche Clear Base Coat with a coat of Seche Vite on top.

The following pic is off my iPhone because we are having terrible weather in Melbourne at the moment so it's hard to get a good pic.

More Foil

Before I took Sexy Divide off I wanted to have a play with a transparent foil I have called Opal Swirl.

I think Over the dark purple it looks almost like Petrol.

Essie Sexy Divide + Foils

I received Sexy Divide in the mail a couple of days ago with some other polishes but I had to try this one out first as it looked amazing in the bottle, and it didn't didn't disappoint! It looks a bit Blue in this photo but it is more of a deep regal Purple.
Inspired by Kitties26 from http://morenailpolish.blogspot.com/ blog post yesterday I decided to have a little play with my nail foils and did a gold feature nail.
And here are a couple of pics from other times I have had a go with foils:

I love playing with foils I find them pretty easy to day and they create a very fun look.

I buy my foils from http://www.dollarnailart.com/ they also give you a free adhesive for every 6 foils you purchase and their postage isn't too bad if you're buying a few things.

Flakies, Where can I find them??

There are so many gorgeous mani's and swatches on international nail blogs with stunning flakies. Unfortunately I am finding it impossible to track any down!

There doesn't seem to be any locally available brands that make them and even brands that can be easily sourced from overseas (China Glaze, OPI and Essie etc..) don't make flakies (WHY??!!) and Nuf.oh seems impossible to find!

So I was very excited today to find the following image on a nail forum:

That's right, apparently Nubar are releasing a Flakie with their Night Sky collection which also includes 3 new Metalic Mattes. I am so excited for this because I have purchased Nubar from eBay before so I should be able to get my hands on one of these.

China Glaze- Calypso Blue + China Glaze Nova

In my recent transdesign order I received these two polishes and couldn't wait to try them.

Calypso, although it looks black in this image, is a deep Navy Creme which is stunning, I'm not normally that into dark polishes but I can see myself wearing this a lot it winter. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it by itself before I got excited and painted Nova over the top.

Nova is a Silver Holo Glitter and I had been lusting after this one after seeing some swatches around. I love glitter so I am very excited to add this one too my collection.

I like Nova Layered over Calypso Blue, it looks a little like the night sky with lots of stars (I think I was a little heavey handed with the glitter though!)

And here is a shot of Nova in all it's Glittery Glory. I think I'm going to invest in some more of China Glaze's Glitters, Any rec's on which ones to try next??

China Glaze- Tickle My Triangle

I Was so excited to get these Holographic Polishes and this one definitely didn't dissapoint. It is a little more red-pink in real life and looks stunning when light catches on the sparkles.

I then had a little play with my konad set which didn't go so well... My poor little butterflies all seem to be missing their bottom wings! Does anyone have any tips for me? I never seem to be able to pick up the whole design.

I recently did a nail polish order from transdesign with my friends M, V and S and today my little pretties had arrived!

I got: Solar Flare, Nova, Cosmic, Meteor Shower, Anklets of Amethysts, Fly, Calypso Blue and Passion.

Can't wait to try these out, will post proper pics soon.

Holos!

Holographic nail polish where have you been all my life???

(Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic)

After seeing some holo swatches on some blogs and on nailgal.com I decided I had to track some of these babies down.

I bought the China Glaze Kaleidoscope Cool collection off eBay which consists of: Sexagon, How about a tumble, Tickle my triangle, Octo gone wild, Kaleidoscope him out and He's going in circles.

I also bough the wireless topcoat which will turn any polish into a Holo.

Expect to see these featured in my next few NOTD's although the photos do not do these pretties justice.

Pink!

Just a quick picture of mani for today.

Pink is my favourite colour so I decide to do a French mani with a twist and used two of my favourite polishes from China Glaze's Up & Away collection; Something Sweet for the base and Sugar High for the tips.

I think it looks cute but might have a play with some white Konad tonight.

My collection

I've had some requests from the twitter girls to see my nail polish stand I recently bought.

Above is the stand with my OPI, China Glaze and Zoya polishes. As you can see it's already full so I will be buying another of these soon.

This is the top rack of a little storage trolly I picked up at ikea. It stores my BYS, Ulta3's and any other random polishes.

I'm setting up my new Ikea Billy book case today and will be moving all my polishes into it. Will post pics when it's finished!

My Private Jet + Nail Art

I am just starting to get the hang of my konad stamper and was practising here (cant remember which plate) with silver polish and also used my silver glitter art club polish.

OPI My Private Jet

I haven't had this polish very long but I would have to say this is fast becoming my favourite polish. It is easy to apply, this was with two coats.

Photos do not do this gorgeous shade justice and it needs to be seen in real life to see how stunning it really is.

Below is a more accurate photo.

(excuse my sausage fingers!)

Hot Pink and Black French Mani

I did this mani a few weeks ago for going out for a friends birthday.

For the pink I used 2 coats of Zoya Layla & 1 coat of China Glaze Don't Touch My Tiara. The black is Zoya Raven and the silver glitter is an Art Club Nail art polish.

It was time consuming to do because you have to wait for the base colour to completely dry before doing the tips as I use guide stickers but I think the final product is worth it.

China Glaze- Refresh Mint

This polish is one of my faves from up & away. It is such a pretty summery colour and applies with ease.

This is two coats with stripes in Art Club Silver Glitter.

MIA

So I have been a terrible blogger... I was so excited to start this project but didn't realise how much time and effort it would actually take and how quickly my nails would turn yellow from the constant polish changing.

Although I have been slack with the up keep of my blog I have been changing my polish most days and take photos so I promise over the next few weeks I will begin uploading images again.

I think this blog will become a place for me to share with you my new polishes and any info on new collections etc.. I've also become quite interested in playing with nail art and my Konad skills are improving so I will post pics of that too.

Day 15: Zoya- Posh + Zoya Dovima + Zoya Armor Top Coat

Today I added tips of Zoya Matte Dovima to Posh and then added a top coat to change the finish from Matte to glossy. I love the colour of Posh its a gorgeous wine red.

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Day 14: Zoya- Posh

The nail polish world has been going Matte crazy recently and most brands have released their own Matte shades. Posh was released with 2 other shades (Loredana, Dovima) from the Zoya Matte Velvet Fall collection.

The Matte velvet polishes have very fine shimmer to them so they kind of have a satin finish to them. These polishes are easy to apply and dry very quickly.

Day 13: Zoya- Lily

Lily was one of my first Zoya's and it is probably still one of my favourite Zoyas.
Its a very soft pink with silver/green shimmer to it. It is easy to apply taking only 2 coats to be opaque.

Zoya have some fantastic new colours coming out in their Flash and Sparkle collections and I cannot wait for these!

Day 12: Rimmel Lasting Finish- Green Grass

I'm not really fussed on this colour, I normally like greens but this colour didn't really appeal to me at all. Think I may give this one away...

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Day 11: Ulta3- Pink Supreme

I am still undecided on Ulta3 Polishes, they get rave reviews from lots of Aussie girls in forums and on blogs but I haven't been that impressed, maybe it was the colours I got...

This ones is cute but I’m pretty easily impressed when it comes to pink. This one applied easily but took 3 coats.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Day 10: Rimmel Lasting Finish- Electric! and China Glaze Tinsel

This is another of the Rimmel Lasting Finish polishes I picked up the other day. It's a purple-pink cream and I decided to have a little fun with it and add a silver glitter tip with China Glaze Tinsel.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Day 9: China Glaze- Something Sweet

Another one from China Glaze's Up & Away collection, Something Sweet is a soft pink cream.
It is easy to apply but took 3 coats to be completely opaque.

China Glaze is fast becoming my favourite brand of polish, the colour range is great and they do some fantastic glitters (Love Glitters!).

Monday, February 22, 2010

Day 8: Rimmel Lasting Finish- Exotica

I picked up a few of these Lasting Finish Polishes at Kmart for $2.75, they were a bargin and are a pretty good polish. Exotica is a vampy Rust Red with a Gold shimmer though it. I think this will be a great colour for winter.

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Day 7: China Glaze- Coconut Kiss + Nail Art

My first attempt at pics of my toes, they do not photograph well! They are painted in China Glaze Coconut Kiss the nail tech that did my Pedicure did some nail art on my big toe nails too.

Close up pic of the nail art on my big toe.

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Day 6: Essie- Steeling the Scene + Nail Art

I had a manicure and pedicure today. I took my own polish for my mani which was Essie Steeling the scene. Steeling the scene needs 3 coats to look good as it is quite sheer.

After the nail tech had painted my nails he asked if he could do a design, which is above. I think it looks cute and nail art is something I would like to play around with more. I have some Konad plates but am yet to get the hang of using them!

Friday, February 19, 2010

Day 5: China Glaze- Passion in the Pacific

Passion in the Pacific is a Teal Blue Shimmer Polish. It's not a colour I would normally choose but I'm glad I did. It's a fun colour for summer. I find pretty much all the China Glaze Polishes I own apply really easy, this one needs 3 coats for the best coverage.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Day 4: OPI That's Berry Daring

This is one of my favourite polishes, unfortunately this photo doesn't do the colour justice. It is actually a little deeper and has a shimmer to it. I am finding it hard to take accurate pictures but I’ll keep trying!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Day 3: China Glaze- Peachy Keen

Another from the new polish from the China Glaze Up & Away Collection.
This pic does not show the true peach shade of Peachy Keen, in real life it is brighter and much more orange. This one was a little streaky to apply but I didn't have that problem with Heli-Yum.
So far i'm loving the shades in Up & Away and can't wait to try them all. It's not often that I like every colour in a collection.

Day 2: Art Deco- 114 (Orange Shimmer)

I have left it a little late to do this tonight so the lighting was pretty bad for the picture.

I picked up a few Art Deco brand Nail Polishes when I was in Cologne in Germany a few weeks back. I hadn't taken any polishes with me (bad idea!) so my nails were in terrible condition and I needed to put something on them so I bought a Pink Polish and Top Coat (they didn't have a base coat). The Polish is ceramic based so they wear quite well. I went back the next day and picked up 4 more colours.

I'm trying to expand on the colours that I purchase as I was mainly going for pinks and purples so when I saw this Orange I thought it was perfect and will be a great summer colour.

What are your favourite polish colours??

Day 1: China Glaze- Heli-Yum

Due to finding myself with an ever expanding collection of Nail Polish, I have decided I should actually try and wear them all... at least once over the next 365 days.

My aim is to post each day with a different nail or toe nail colour, nail art or my thoughts on up coming collections.

So today I start with one of my recent purchases Heli-Yum from China Glaze's latest collection Up & Away. You will probably be seeing a few colours from this collection over the next few months as I liked them all so much I bought the whole collection!

Heli-yum is a gorgeous raspberry pink creme this picture doesn't quite show how deep the colour is.
I used to be mainly into Shimmers but I'm starting to experiment more and I really like the way the creme polishes look.

I'm off to go and decide what colour I will use tomorrow...
